Ahmadinejad coming to the United Nations

Category: (Military) .

If reports are true, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be returning to New York City this month to address the United Nations General Assembly. Am I the only one who thinks this is completely unacceptable? It was bad enough that Ex-Iranian President Mohammad Khatami was allowed into the United States and he is allowed to deliver 'scathing criticism of US foreign policy to an annual gathering of Muslims in Illinois'? 'Tens of thousands of Muslims from Canada and around the United States attended that gathering.' What is Condi Rice thinking?

Also Fox News is reporting that Ahmadinejad will hold a conference to study whether the Holocaust ever happened. Now I wonder who he will invite to that group?

Iran's Ahmadinejad to attend UN assembly in New York

Tehran- Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit New York this month to attend the United Nations General Assembly, state television IRIB reported Saturday. In an interview with IRIB, Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki confirmed that Ahmadinejad will visit the UN General Assembly and delivery a speech in front of the assembly.

This would be the second visit by Ahmadinejad to the United States since taking office in August 2005. In September 2005, he was at UN headquarters in New York to speak to the General Assembly.

Within minutes of taking the podium he was attacking the portrayal of Islam in the popular media in the West.

"Media Islam is the result of a one-sided understanding of Islam that is represented to us in a solitary, cliched and vicious way," he said.

"The political version of Islam that is displayed is merely an imaginary version of Islam. What has been stated is a dark and false perception of Islam and the East."

And he directly criticised US policies, which he said exploited "the grandeur of the nation and country of the United States for the subjugation and domination of the world".

The three-day conference in Rosemont, Illinois, has drawn tens of thousands of Muslims from Canada and around the United States.

The US State Department had issued Mr Khatami a visitor's visa with no restrictions, a move that upset Jewish groups and some lawmakers here.

Mr Khatami is expected to travel to Washington and then speak at events at the United Nations and Harvard University.

We're just asking for trouble!
