THE five major nuclear powers are working on a joint statement that aims to show unusual unified resolve and put fresh pressure on Iran not to resume nuclear fuel research, United States officials and diplomats said on Friday. ...

In an effort to put new pressure on Iran, the US, Britain, France, Russia and China were working on a statement opposing the Iranian move and urging that Tehran return to negotiations on a compromise proposal.

Although the statement is not expected to contain specific threats, such as bringing Iran to the UN Security Council where sanctions could be imposed, officials said it could have a significant political impact. Continue reading.

Okay, let me see if I have this right. After 3 years of threats, the UN finally figures out that Iran is not going to listen to them, so they decide to use sanctions? Iran has already made statements such as, "We can destroy Israel, but they can only kill a few million of us." Does this sound like rational people to you?

I am not amazed nor am I amused. Arm the students, train them, and get out of their way! They want their freedom, but they do not want a war. They would like to overthrow their government by themselves.

What about the money we have set aside at the State Department for them? Hmm? Whatever did happen to that? Please, President Bush, don't mess this one up further. What do I mean by that?
